HSV coach Merlin Polzin assumes that Ransford Königsdörffer will no longer employ his burst transfer to OGC Nice. The 23-year-old agreed with the French and the northern Germans were allowed to adjust to a transfer between 6 million and 7 million euros-to the surprise of all those involved, the Königsdörffer willing to change fell through the medical check. The doctors in Nice had concerns about previous knee problems with the Berlin -born, which ultimately failed the deal.

“Of course it is not easy to deal with such a situation, but if you know Ransi, you know that he takes life as it comes. He has a positive serenity, in some cases a certain naivety,” said Polzin according to the “kicker”. “We did not expect this development, especially on the fact that Ransi only missed two games with muscular problems in his three -year contract term at HSV,” sports director Stefan Kuntz previously explained via the club announcement. “We receive him with our arms and know what we have about him.”

Polzin revealed that as a trainer it was sometimes “not easy to deal with it”. However, he particularly emphasized Königsdörffer’s handling of stressful situations. “In the absolute printing situation at the end of last season, Ransi delivered incredibly, precisely because he doesn’t worry as much as one or the other. It is a very positive quality.” After the disappointment with Nice with his attacker, the trainer feels with his attacker, who is now in his last contract year with the promoted team. “I am sorry for him because he had imagined it differently and we would have given him the opportunity to change. But Ransi is and remains part of our club, and I am happy because he had only a few absenteeism with us in the three years.”

Negotiations of the HSV with the Königsdörffer side beyond an extension beyond 2026 were tough in view of different ideas. The market value of the right foot last doubled from 3 million to 6 million euros, with which Königsdörffer is the most valuable HSV professional before the newcomers Yussuf Poulsen (31) and Nicolás Capaldo (26, each 5 million). In 2022 he switched from Dynamo Dresden to Hamburg for initially EUR 1.2 million, the sum increased by 200,000 euros after promotion in the seventh attempt. Königsdörffer came for the HSV 27 goals and nine templates in 102 games – behind center forward and top scorer Selke (23 goals in league and cup), he was the best Knipser with 14 successful degrees last season. He would have started with Nice in the 3rd round of the Champions League qualification against Benfica (6th and August 12th).
