At the 1990 World Cup, center forward Frank Mill was part of the German squad, wrote football history. Now he died at the age of 67.
Grief for Frank Mill: The German football world champion died of the consequences of a heart attack. This is what the “Bild” and his ex-club Fortuna Düsseldorf report. “We are in my thoughts at Frank’s family and everyone who was close to him,” said Fortuna.
Mill had already suffered an infarction in a taxi at the end of May. The emergency doctors were able to reanimate the 67-year-old.
Now Mill died, according to the “Bild” on the night from Monday to Tuesday, was most recently treated in a clinic in Essen.
Mill played for Rot-Weiss Essen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and Fortuna Düsseldorf, played a total of more than 380 Bundesliga games and scored 123 goals. For the German national team, he came up with 17 missions. He made his debut against Brazil in 1982, and his last game was the World Cup general rehearsal against Denmark in 1990. At the World Cup, it was not used, but was still an important part of the team.
With Borussia Dortmund, he won the DFB Cup in 1989 and a season later the German Super Cup.
After his career, he briefly worked as a manager of his ex-club Fortuna Düsseldorf, but another station did not occur. Mill also founded the “Frank Mill Football School” for children and young people.
