The Berlin glasses dealer Mister Spex SE has expanded its subscription model. The “Mister Spex Switch” program is now also available online, the company said on Monday. Mister Spex is “the first optician in Germany to digitally offers a subscription -based rental model for glasses”.

“Mister Spex Switch” was already introduced on May 14th in their own shops. Since then, the program has “developed to an integral part of the company offer with over 3,000 completed subscriptions,” says a message. In the months of June and July, “around ten percent of the total store turnover” were already on the program.

According to the company, the successful start in the inpatient business gave the impulse to make the offer accessible online. “Mister Spex Switch makes an important contribution to the development of our profitability and customer loyalty two months after the market launch,” explained CEO Tobias Krauss in a statement. “The strong performance in the stores has largely supported the decision for the online rollout.”

According to the company, the subscription program “enables the parallel use of two to three glasses-with the possibility to replace a model for a new one after twelve months.” It also includes a “comprehensive service package”.
