Dealing on matchday 1: Kevin Ehlers has to get off the lawn against 1. FC Magdeburg at an early stage. That is how long he will be missing Eintracht Braunschweig.
Defender Kevin Ehlers would have imagined the start of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. Shortly after the kick -off of the second half of the opening game against 1. FC Magdeburg (1-0), the defensive man from Eintracht Braunschweig saw the red card on Sunday – and is now damn to watch. Because: The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) set the lock for the 24-year-old on Monday.
“Because of raw game”, Ehlers is closed to two championship games, according to a corresponding message. The defender will miss both the first home game of Eintracht in the new season against Greuther Fürth (Saturday, 1 p.m.) and the away game at Karlsruher SC (August 23, 1 p.m.). The association already agreed to the judgment.
Against Magdeburg, Ehlers had imagined the ball too far in the 54th minute of the game in midfield. When opponent Marcus Mathisen intervened, Ehlers followed up with an open sole and only hit the Magdeburger. Referee Tom Bauer did not hesitate long and immediately pulled out the red card.
A small consolation for Ehlers: Eintracht won the game 1-0 despite around 40-minute outnumber. Mehmet Aydin achieved the remarkable winning goal by a long -range shot from more than 30 meters in the 82nd minute. Especially one player of the opponent was anything but happy. Eintracht, however, starts the upcoming tasks with a good feeling – and especially with three points in the luggage.
