The artists participating in the Friends of Amstel LIVE concert series in May were present yesterday at the press presentation in the Amsterdam café Hesp. One of them is Willeke Alberti. Why is she wearing those glasses? Private editor-in-chief Evert Sankrediets gives the redeeming answer. Willeke had slept badly, so that’s why she kept the glasses on, she said.

Willeke has also announced that she will stop giving larger solo concerts this year. The last is on Tuesday 19 July. “That will take place in one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world… our own Royal Concertgebouw!”, she says in The Telegraph†
“I’m going to do ten more now and then end up in that beautiful music temple on Museumplein!”, she says. “I keep singing, especially in nursing homes, but this really puts an end to giving big concerts.”
