Bronny James experienced a changeable rookie year at the Los Angeles Lakers. His past heart surgery is apparently part of the reason why it was not always easy for him in the NBA. He had to achieve this painfully again this summer.
With Dave McMenamin from “ESPN” The Lakers-Sophomore spoke about the changes in his body, which he has perceived since his cardiovascular arrest in July 2023.
“I’m somehow getting sick more easily,” he said. “This is kind of strange, but I think my immune system has messed up a bit. So there are times when I have to pause, and the whole fitness I worked on is just gone after a week of break.”
Lakers athletics trainer: improvement “happens faster for him”
It was the same this summer when James Jr. was sick for a week before the California Classic. His constitution suffered from this, which is why the Lakers left him out in the first game of the summer tournament.
According to Lakers athletics coach Mike Mancia, with which Bronny’s father LeBron James has been working for ages, such a physical reaction is not surprising: “It takes a while for the body to rebuild the body’s coordinated immune system,” said Mancias. “It is completely normal for even elite athletes to experience something like this. But due to Bronny’s old age and his health history, it happens even faster for him.”
Circumstances that should be gratifying for Bronnys Head Coach JJ Redick. Because he gave the 20-year-old on the way that he “has to come in top shape” in order to cross the “entry threshold” into the lakers rotation.
Bronny has the perfect role model in his father: “I think that is a big reason why his durability is so incredible and why he has been standing so much for over 20 years,” said Bebron’s son. “I see many boys who do not want to go to the ice pool after training or do not take up treatment.”
