Biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier is currently in the mountains of Pakistan. The 31-year-old was hit by a stone on a tour.

Laura Dahlmeier accidentally accidentally had a mountain accident in Pakistan at Laila Peak (6,069 meters). The 31-year-old was seriously injured by a rockfall, her management told the TV station ZDF and the dpa news agency. The rescue is running.

Dahlmeier was traveling in the Karakorum Mountains on Monday with her rope partner when she was hit by a rockfall. “The accident happened around 5,700 meters around noon. The rope partner immediately made an emergency call, the rescue operation was initiated immediately,” says the management’s statement. “Due to the seclusion of the area, a rescue helicopter was only able to reach the scene of the accident on the morning of July 29th. An international mountain rescue team is currently coordinating the salvage.” Internationally experienced mountaineers are involved in the rescue.

During a overflight it was found that Dahlmeier was seriously injured. Signs of life were not recognizable, the ZDF report says.

Dahlmeier ended her biathlon career in May 2019. The two -time Olympic champion and seven -time world champion followed her hobby. As a state-certified mountain and ski guide, she was traveling in many countries. The most recently at Monte Brento in Italy and on the meat bench in the Austrian Alps.

Dahlmeier’s management wants to provide further information about the accident as soon as there are secure knowledge.
