The suburbs of Beijing, including the suburbs Miyun and Huairou, were the heaviest hit by the torrent rain.
The floods have damaged dozens of roads and disrupted the power supply in more than 130 villages.

Eight people died on Monday at a landslide in the city of Chengde, about three hours northeast of Beijing.

China is struggling with a summer full of extreme weather. Record hit waves found the east of the country earlier this month, while floods ravaged the southwest of the country.
After the enormous floods in North China, President Xi Jinping called for ‘all-embracing’ rescue actions and the authorities instructed to prepare for ‘the worst and extreme scenarios’.
