Playlist: New Noises in August

Between the USA and Scotland, Americana and British pop, graceful ballads and gripping grooves will find our playlist for August the golden center
1. Chantal Acda “Heads (Radio Edit)”
On her new album, the Dutch songwriter once again spreads an impressive style of style. In “Heads”, flutes meet psychedelic drones and hymn-herb harmonies.
2. Colin Steele Quartet “Let’s Go Out Tonight”
The Scottish trumpeter pays tribute to the pop music of his compatriots from The Blue Nile and fills the freedom of the originals without depriving them of their soul.
3. The Wood Brothers “The Trick”
Folk, blues, jazz, gospel and roots rock combine in the Americana of the New York band around the brothers Oliver and Chris Wood to an irresistibly grooving mix.
4. Hayes Carll “We’re only human”
In the title song of his new album, the Texas songwriter designs a large, comforting human-country country ballad-and reminds of Steve Earle and Joe Henry.
5. Hollow Horse “How You Look at Things/ Through the Lens of Time”
In the eighties between New Romantics and Sophisti-Pop, the Scots write beautiful songs trained to Edwyn Collins.
6. Patty Griffin “Way Up To The Sky”
An almost whispered Americana ballad in which the US songwriter reflects on the transience and the dry spells of life. Graceful.
7. Pat Carter “Big Machine”
With the Berlin band Rodeo FM, Carter walked in the footsteps of American champions. He also succeeds in the balancing act between country rock and punk impetus.
