CSD with motto “Never quiet again!”
The organizers demand under the motto “Never stand still!” More protection and rights for queer people. They refer to existing discrimination and a persistently high number of hate crimes against LGBTQ+person. Due to the event, there are extensive road closures, especially in the middle and the zoo.
Route and final rally
The demonstration begins at 12 p.m. on Leipziger Straße at Spittelmarkt and moves via Potsdamer Platz, Nollendorfplatz, Lützowplatz and the big star to the Brandenburg Gate until around 3:30 p.m. There the move ends around 7 p.m. with a final rally, which lasts until midnight.
Road closures for the CSD
The street of June 17th between Brandenburg Gate and Great Star and neighboring roads have been closed since Thursday, July 24, at 6 a.m. and until Sunday, July 27th, at midnight. On Saturday, the entire demonstration route from around 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. cannot be passed on for traffic. The neighboring side streets are also affected by the road closures due to the CSD in Berlin.
Torse demonstration and small move
In addition to the CSD, two further demonstrations are registered. A right group wants to protest under the motto “Together against the CSD terror”. It is expected with 350 participants: inside. At the same time, the “Internationalist Queer Pride” is planning its own demonstration from 1 p.m. from Südkreuz through Kreuzberg. Restrictions can also be expected there. Hasenheide, Hermannplatz, Kottbuser Damm, Kottbusser Tor, Adalbertstraße, Oranienstraße and Oranienplatz are in particular affected.
Further closures in parallel
Road closures are not only expected to be restricted to the CSD Berlin. The 33rd Berlin Citynight run takes place in City-West. From Saturday morning 6 a.m. to Sunday morning 6 a.m., Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße between Joachimsthaler Straße and Nuremberg Straße are closed. The running route via Kurfürstendamm to Westfälische Strasse, as well as Brandenburgische Straße and Lewishamstrasse is also affected by closures between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
The police implement an increased security concept, as there is an abstract high risk situation, as with previous major events.
