For holidaymakers from Dormio Resort & Hotel de Hondsrug, it is now a crazy sight: while the first tourist season is already running, there is still plenty of construction further on. But bit by bit the holiday park is taking shape. Of the total of seventy holiday homes that are there, 19 are now ready for rent.

A few holiday homes are already being recreated, the others are cleaned for the following landlords. The doors of the park were open in July. “A very crazy sensation because you have been working here for years,” says real estate manager Laurens Bosscher. “Suddenly the time has come and all cars drive at the resort.”

In 2019, the first plans for the luxurious holiday park near the Nije Hemelriek came out. Although it was not entirely from a slate roof. In addition to the Coronapandemie that increased building prices, it also turned out to be difficult to find investors. “The start -up phase is always the most difficult,” explains Bosscher. “Those are the first 19 homes. You notice that the moment there is really something starting, that people will automatically get the confidence that it will actually be phased out.”

Protest from the neighborhood and politics also followed because of the impact of the new resort on nature. The owners have adjusted the plans for this. For example, the houses stand on spacious plots, there is a bat bunker and a few bat cabinets hang, the existing pools where a rare salamander lives are maintained and a lot of trees are also stored. Bosscher: “We have taken the time for that extensively.”

The park is now being built in the park for approximately 1.5 years. The park is therefore not ready for the time being. “We are fully building the second series of houses and the third phase containing the hotel and the main building we are busy preparing,” says Bosscher.
