Oleksandr Usyk against Daniel Dubois: On July 19, the boxing world looks spellbound to London, where the rival heavyweight champions determine the undisputed masters of all classes. Who has the better cards? Sport.de compares WBA/WBC/WBO king Usyk and IBF title carrier Dubois in a large 12-round check and explains who has advantages where and why.
In the late evening of August 26, 2023, Daniel Dubois went to the ground in the stadium of Breslau’s stadium by heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk in round nine-and was counted under the cheers of thousands of Ukrainian fans in Poland.
While Usyk performed a victory dance, Dubois crashed into his corner and did not understand the foggy world around him.
Four laps before, referee Luis Pabon had seen one of his tough bodies as a deep strike and granted usyk a break instead of counting the champion. Dubois felt cheated about a supposed co-coup. Since then, the Englishman has been going to revenge. On July 19, at home in London, he received her in front of 90,000 British in the legendary Wembley Stadium.
Video: Exclusive: Kabayel is ready for Usyk
One thing is clear: Usyk will face another dubois than two years ago. The 27-year-old has improved a lot since the defeat of Breslau, won three victories, won the IBF belt and spectacularly knocked out superstar Anthony Joshua.
Can the premium version of “Dynamite” Dubois to push the unbeaten heavyweight king from the throne and become an undisputed champion? Or does Usyk set up the crown for the third time in his career as an undisputed champion of the four large associations WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO?
sport.de And the journal Boxing Make the big 12-round check: from the physique to the hardness hardness to the much-cited “tower qualities”. The 10-point must system applies-the winner of one round gets 10, the loser 9 points.
Usyk vs. dubois round 1: physique
With its 1.96 meters, Dubois is a good bit larger than Usyk and around seven kilograms heavier. The Englishman is also eleven years younger and approaches the zenith.
Usyk has not yet shown any signs of wear, but the question arises as to whether the ravages of time do not begin to gnaw at some point in the 38-year-old.
10: 9 dubois
Usyk vs. dubois, round 2: experience
Clear thing for box veteran usyk. The Ukrainian draws from an experience wealth of 350 amateur fights and has been a price boxer for twelve years.
Dubois became professional in 2017 after a short amateur career among the juniors at the age of 18. The Brit has contested some fights on a large stage – but not as many at the highest level as Usyk.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 3: impact hardness
Certainly: Usyk can also caught up how the legal interpreter has impressively demonstrated against Tyson Fury. In terms of power, however, he has a look against Dubois. On July 19, “Triple-D” will get 95.5 percent into the ring with a KO quota, and he all won his last three fights prematurely.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 4: defensive
Usyk can “read” an opponent like hardly any other, is difficult to hit thanks to its footwork and anticipation. If it gets dangerous, there is still a solid double cover with the Ukrainian. Dubois has defensively room. The man from London often acts too static in the upper body and often offers a standing goal.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 5: lead hand
Usyk beats an excellent Southpaw-Jab for the opponent. The right guide hand serves the noble guide as a folding tool, as a sensor to push himself to the right distance, and also as a painful “stabbing” to head like body.
At Dubois, the huge rights are often in focus – the Jab may be its best and most dangerous blow. Under coach Don Charles, the normal boom has developed a default -shaped -like left in the tradition of Joe Louis, Sonny Liston or Vladimir Klitschko, with which he hard to add to his opponent. Dubois’ Jab almost goes through as a power punch.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 6: variability
Prelimination, counter mode, Finten, “Level Changes” to the head and body, dosed individual hands or quick combinations. Usyk dominates the complete repertoire and more. Many a stroke variation can only be seen in heavyweight boxes by the grand master from Ukraine. Compared to this, Dubois has almost one -dimensional with its powerful offensive style.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 7: footwork
For a man of his dimensions, Dubois is quite “good on foot” between the ropes, it also understands that it “cuts off the ring” to an opponent.
But the footwork is an absolute USYK domain. The 38-year-old is the heavyweight version of his resigned compatriot Vassiliy Lomachenko. Like the lightweight “Matrix” boxer once once buzzed around his opponents and creates unexpected angles from which he fires his fast hands.
10: 9 USYK

Thanks to his strong footwork, Usyk always ends up unexpected hammers like here against Tyson Fury
Usyk vs. dubois, round 8: condition
Another every day. The old master has proven to be a condition monster in dozens of World Cup fights against the elite of sport. In the second half of a battle, Usyk often adds coal and puts greetings to his opponents – Joshua and Fury – in the “Championship Rounds” 10, 11 and 12.
Dubois always presented himself well -trained – in the first duel with USYK, however, he removed “in the back”. Against USYK, some experts expect the muscle mountain from London to run out of air after a fist fireworks in the first rounds.
10: 9 USYK
Usyk vs. dubois, round 9: speed
Dubois’ Handspeed is sometimes underestimated, he hit superstar Joshua with a fixed right counterfest. The speed advantage naturally lies with the smaller man. Probably no heavyweight is currently beating as quick hands and combinations as Usyk.
10: 9 USYK
Usyk vs. dubois, round 10: psyche
Dubois caught up against Joe Joyce and Usyk after the painful defeats, appearing much more solid and confident in his last fights. Nevertheless, a question mark depends on the psyche of the IBF master.
At least at the first Staredown in Wembley, Dubois was the first to swim away, Usyk suddenly pushed away. The “cat” visibly enjoyed the scene. Usyk is mentally enormously consolidated, gets under his opponents with his funny, unpredictable way. Even mental mitten expert Fury found his master in terms of psychological warfare in Usyk.

Usyk vs. dubois, round 11: tender skills
Usyk has an extraordinarily stable chin, has never been on the ground as a professional. Even hits do not get the world champion out of the concept – rather, Usyk then collects in order to turn back in a controlled manner. It only looks vulnerable in the case of body hits. In the first fight against Dubois, the champion went down in round five after a blow just below the belt.
Dubois particularly showed Filip Hrgovic that he has a “beard” and can absorb difficult hits. In his vita, however, the premature bankruptcies against Joyce and Usyk as well as three soil visits against the Kevin Lerena, which is not exactly known as co-experts.
10: 9 USYK
Usyk vs. dubois, round 12: ring dominance
Who masters the center of the ring? Who hits without being hit? Who gives the pace and controls the distance? Who has what the Americans called “Ring General Hip”? The answer: Usyk to a much stronger extent than dubois.
The champion, which is unbeaten in 23, succeeds with the highest ring IQ in heavyweight, is able to dictate a struggle in almost all layers.
Usyk is a master of a feeling of distance, masters the forward and reverse gear, varies tempi and styles astonishingly effortlessly. To decipher the USYK code and win control over the ring-for Dubois the challenge par excellence.
10: 9 USYK
Conclusion: Usyk a favorite on the hat
Nine rounds for Usyk, three for dubois – makes it on the sport.de-Punk slip one 117: 111 In favor of the Ukrainian. No question: Usyk climbs into the ring as a favorite on July 19, is the more experienced and technically better boxer.
But: thanks to his excellent guide hand, its stroke hardness, the physical advantages and his youth, Dubois is a real threat to the heavyweight king, especially in the first rounds.
If Usyk is not fully up to 90,000 British and shows its best boxing, it could – also because of the home advantage of its rival. Dubois is pumped out by England’s football temple with adrenaline and repeatedly pulled up in the way in advance of the memory of having sent Usyk 2023 to the ground (if only by a deep blow).
