Silver for Nsikak Ekpo at EC for promises
8.19 pm: Nsikak Ekpo finished second in the 100 meters of the European championships for athletes under the age of 23. The 22-year-old Dutchman finished in 10.30 in Bergen, Norwegian. He stayed slightly above his personal record in the final (10.23). The win went to the Frenchman Jeff Erius (10.28).
Earlier this summer, Ekpo ran a Dutch record at the European Landen ECRID on the 4×100 meter relay (37.91) together with Taymir Burnet, Xavi Mo-Ajok and Elvis Afifa.
Relegation from Nations League closer to volleyball players
8.17 pm: Relegation from the Nations League has come closer to the Dutch volleyball players. Direct competitor Serbia won 3-0 in Ljubljana against Ukraine: 25-22 25-19 25-17.
Serbia came to 6 points thanks to the victory and took the eighteenth and last place to the Netherlands, which has 5 points. The number 18 degrades to the Challenger Cup.
The Netherlands still has two duels to prevent relegation, Friday against Canada and Sunday against Italy.
The Netherlands is assigned WK Beach Volleyball
6.38 pm: The World Beach Volleyball World Championship will take place in 2027 from 20 to 29 August in the Netherlands. Barcelona must postpone return to Camp Nou

Nienke Veenhoven wins second stage in Baloise Ladies Tour

Athlete Laros meets World Cup limit 800 meters at European Championships
2.40 pm: At the European Athletics Championships under 23 in Bergen (Norway), Niels Laros has run under the limit to participate in the World Cup Athletics in Tokyo on the 800 meters. He finished third in a very fast series in 1.44.19, well below the limit for Tokyo (1.44.50) and a significant improvement of his personal record (1.44.78). He qualified for the final on Sunday.
Laros climbed to fifth place in the Dutch ranking of all time. The 20-year-old athlete from Oosterhout was surprised this summer by winning the 5000 meters at the European Championships in Madrid and at the Diamond League in Eugene to surprise the global top with the win on the English miles in the seventh time ever (3.45.94).
Laros is keen on double honorary metal in Bergen, because it is also on the starting list of the 5000 meters. At the European Championships under 18 in 2022 and the European Championship under 20 in 2023, he always won double gold.

Steenbeek to final solo at World Cup synchronous swimming

15.11 hours: Lisanne de Witte is one of the ten candidates for six available positions in the athletes committee of the global athletics association World Athletics.
