Ex-Bundesliga professional restaurant reports bankruptcy

Although it recently received a Michelin star, the restaurant of Michael Zeyer was insolent. The ex-professional still fights for continued existence.
As soon as the Michelin star was back, the setback followed: the Stuttgart restaurant “5” filed for bankruptcy. It was only in June the gourmet restaurant, which is operated by former Bundesliga professional Michael Zeyer, was again included in the Michelin Guide-now it is in financial difficulties.
The operating company Zedo submitted an application for a procedure in self -administration to the Aalen District Court – this has now been granted.
According to information from the “Bild”, invoices could no longer be paid. The economic situation was poured, around 30 employees are affected. According to the Pluta law firm, which provides the preliminary property administrator, their wages and salaries are secured by the bankruptcy money by the end of September.
Despite the financial imbalance, the restaurant operation should continue. Reservations remain possible, only already acquired vouchers can no longer be redeemed for bankruptcy reasons.
Co -owner and managing director Zeyer confirmed the bankruptcy and announced to fight for the continued existence of the restaurant. “Of course, our goal is to get the restaurant,” said the former professional, who played 146 Bundesliga games for Duisburg, Stuttgart and Kaiserslautern. A renovation consultant is intended to help stabilize the company.
The “5 Gourmet Restaurant & Bar” is run by chef Alexander Dinter. A four-course menu currently costs 148 euros, seven gears are 228 euros-each without wine accompaniment. In addition to the Michelin star, the traveller ‘Choice Award from Tripadvisor was awarded several times.
Like many other top gastronomy houses, the “5” is struggling with increased costs and changed guests since Corona pandemic.
