On Wednesday evening a major fire broke out at the Tomorrowland dance festival, at the Belgian town of Boom, near Antwerp. The main stage on the festival site caught Vlam. According to the Belgian channel VRT, fireworks bangs could also be heard.

Despite the presence of the fire brigade, the fire quickly spreads and seems to cause enormous damage. In the meantime, about half of the stage is on fire, as can be seen on images that go on social media.

According to Belgian media, it is unclear whether there were injuries. Nothing is known about the cause either. There would be around a thousand employees at the festival, which is not yet open to the public. On Friday, the first performances are on the agenda, of which it is unclear whether they can continue.

The roads around the festival site are kept free for the emergency services. The police recommend local residents to keep windows and doors closed for the time being.
