Recommendations of the Editorial team

A few weeks ago, it was announced that ProSieben will do without new episodes of the “Simpsons” in prime time in the future. The TV broadcaster ends a tradition that has been held for years-because the new boards of the cartoon series have been broadcast in the evening for more than 20 years.

As a “Simpsons” marathon (but also placed in an unimaginative manner) showed last Saturday (July 12), the yellow seems to lose slowly but surely in tension. ProSieben brought one episode after the next from 3:10 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. From “you know famous stars” (with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger) to “The Thickness and the Bear” was certainly there for anyone who likes the series.

But the ratings after “DWDL” Very much to be desired. Hardly any episode was seen by more than 200,000 people. It was only after 7 p.m. a little more. In the advertising -relevant target group, between 2.7 and 5.3 percent were reached. The audience made a clear judgment: “Boooooring!”

The future of the “Simpsons” lies in streaming

The future of the “Simpsons”, although the animation series up to the 40th season has been extended and critics certify that the authors bring in fresh ideas after years of creative stagnation does not seem to be on linear TV.

Nobody knows how the series is at Disney+, there are no official figures. With exclusive episodes and (unfortunately tasted) short films, the Micky Mouse Group is interested in using the acquired rights to the “Simpsons” cleverly (unlike the “Muppets”).

As long as there are still enough fans who want to see Homer and Co. on TV, they will probably continue there. But probably no longer on prominent broadcasting sites – and maybe also with a different radiation frequency.
