Today is the day that changes the story. It is the day when Wimbledon, the Garden of Kings is tinged with blue. Jannik Sinner is the first Italian to win the most desired, most coveted tournament. The tournament that changes the life of a tennis player and puts it in another category. Jannik Sinner finally exceeds Carlos Alcaraz and does so in the right place, on the center court that in the last two years had seen the Spaniard triumph. Jannik wins 4-6 6-4 6- 4 in comeback, after a first set where everything seemed written. Instead, the ability to rewrite history is only great. And Jannik Sinner is certainly among them. The arms raised, the smile, the blows on the grass. Tears, it’s all true.

The match

In the first set it is Sinner to move forward first, in the fifth game, 4-2, but from that moment the service leaves it, and in fact it goes below 15-30 and then grants two break balls: the first is enough, puts a backhand on the net and the Spaniard takes the counterbreak. Sinner does not need well, in addition he has the usual problem of support, slips. When needed on 5-4, to stay in the set, it is still struggling with the service that does not help it and with a double foul sends Carlos in full exaltation at set point. Serious error let the funambolo loaded himself, and in fact surviving the enthusiasm of the crowd, largely for him, succeeds in a winning recovery of reverse in the running that should be delivered to science because it is sure, there is something that the mortals escapes.

Sinner accelerates

Alcaraz gives at the beginning of the second set, Jannik goes on 2-0 but must always suffer from the fairy touches of the rival, caps of champagne that jump, and some free of charge too many. When he manages to close for the 3-1 he loads himself with a scream. He is tense, he is afraid to make mistakes, he knows that the dangers arrive everywhere and it is difficult to pair. The sun goes and goes, a bit like Sinner’s arm, which gives too much. Even in the sixth game he ends up chasing, 15-30, but this time he closes with a little help of the ribbon, a small four-leaf clover in the midst of that little generous grass: 4-2. The advantage remains intact and risks increasing when Alcaraz starts badly at the service and grants the double break chance. Jannik does not use it but in the delicate eighth game he finds a nice shift, he still keeps his head ahead (5-3) and goes to serve to equalize the sets on 5-4. This time it is he who closes with a nice winning recovery that makes the central explode, and this time calls the audience’s scream, it works. Because on 30-15 he goes to set point with another feat, this time in Lungolinea. He remembers having been a skier, closes with a straight-crossed straight in slip: 6-4 and all standing for Sinner.

The advantage

Third set, we start again with two break balls for Sinner thanks also to two double fouls of Alcaraz. The number 1 refuses the offer with education, a couple of measurement errors to put it back in parity and then Carlos closes, 1-0. We proceed shipped and on serve, with Jannik who finds a good feeling with the first and closes the 2-2 to zero. We fight for the advantage in the sixth game, with Jannik who even strikes from under his legs but misses a measure of measurement. He holds the 3-3 but it is danger on 4-3 with the Spaniard who takes him on 30-30, but with a second ace he earns the 4-4 ball that seals with the ACE. The break arrives in the 9th and decisive game, with Sinner increasingly present in the field, safer. On 5-4 the number 1 to the world is used to go ahead two sets to 1, it gives a 15 with a double foul but remedies with the ACE, 30-15. Smash, 40-15 and third set in your pocket, 6-4.

The grand finale

It starts again, with Alcaraz who loses safety and Sinner who earns them. And in the third game it is the blue that breaks the balance, break and 2-1. On 3-1 Jannik comeback from 40-0 to 40-40 but the Spaniard saves the 3-2. The reigning champion approaches 40-30 in the next game, while Mamma Siglinde, survived Paris, risks the heat stroke in London. On 40-30 another small four-leaf clover, a ribbon that closes the situation on 4-2 while Carlos, shot down, gets a push from the box “Dai, you have to give everything” and he remains alive, even if under a break and constantly attacked by a unleashed sinner. The Spaniards sing “Yes, if Puede”, Alcaraz smiles and in fact has two balls of the counterbreak. Jannik cancels the first with a second stone, on the second it is made of Sassate and Carlos sends out. When he is behind the wall, Sinner reacts like this. And salt 5-3. The dream is getting closer, Jannik goes to serve for the title of Wimbledon. The audience calls Carlos, dreams of a fifth set. Three Match Point Sinner. The first breaks on the net, Siglinde gets his hands on his head. In the end, whoever has the biggest dream wins. You are champion, Jan.
