In the Belgian city of Kortrijk, Hondema jumped to 6.91 meters. She already had a good feeling about her jump, because the circumstances and results from the past promised a lot. Earlier she jumped a personal record in Kortrijk. “I immediately felt like jumping there.”

Despite that, she still had to grow in the competition. The first jumps were invalid, the fourth attempt was valid and at the fifth she immediately felt it. “A world of difference,” says Hondema about her record jump.
“I landed a bit to the side of the container. So they had to measure just as well. I thought 81 was seeing. I knew that would already be a record and then he suddenly said 91. I had to check that, to see if it is true. That is really a world distance. With 6.91 you hear a bit. I was all the way through the crazy way.”
