The entrepreneur Augusto Racca has decided to host the oldest grocery store in Italy in his club, the Club Museum which won a historic Scudetto in 1913/14
Here is the story. You can breathe history. History has redone. We are in Casale Monferrato, via Roma, corner of Piazza Mazzini. The restaurant is that of the Corino grocery store, born in 1764, the oldest grocery store in Italy. For some years it has been transformed into a Krumireria where between memories and antiquities, 26 types of Krumiri are served, the ancient casale biscuits, born in 1878 with Krumiro Rossi whose laboratory is not far away. Until 15 years ago, the grocery store resisted, then Augusto Racca, entrepreneur, visionary, farmer, married four times, transformed her. “It was impossible to sell real grocery products.” It is an ancient and elegant bistrot bar where the rule is only one: enhance the raw materials to the maximum.

But why are we here? Because real curiosity is under the floor. Stone stairs, arches ceilings and here we are in contact with another story, the football one. That of a club that in 1914 won the incredible and only Scudetto, but which also suffered more failures, changed denominations, swallowed very much bitter morsels. But he has never lost his real fans. Augusto Racca, very loyal, has decided to host the Museum of the Casale in its premises supporting the idea of Massimo Ogliaro, Luca Trombin and Andrea Marangon that that nerostellato have it in their hearts. They ground kilometers, taken water and barrels, educated their children to the culture of the farmhouse while maintaining a passion for today’s great clubs, Andrea, graphic designer, for Milan, Luca, employed at the post office, for Atalanta. A passion documented by the continuous, complicated and expensive search for collectibles and gadgets of all kinds. “Finding the memorabilia of the farmhouse was a company. Every day we work to find it and a sincere thanks we owe it to my friend Giovanni Cerruti”. There is a real shirt, the black one with the five -pointed star that has always identified a beloved team that also boasts an amateur Italian Cup won in ’99. There are Gagliardetti, photos, posters, postcards, cups, plates, documentation, publications, a showcase with shoes and balls of the last farmhouse in a in the mid -thirties. There is the gigantography of those champions who defeated everyone: Mattea, Giovanni Gallina, Scrivano, Rosa, Parodi, Barberini, Varese, Maggiani and Square Bertinotti, Angelo Gallina, the goalkeeper, in white, Ravetti. The four supporters of the project live on memories, but not only. The present is the promotion, with the hope of excellence. “We like this management”. But it’s hard. In the museum there are five rooms, the largest of history, one of fans, one of big clubs, one of the national team, one of volleyball. Because Luca’s sentimental ties bring back to that world. Today the son plays in A A Acqui Terme. A satisfaction. Greater than those that the football team gives. “That made us suffer with all the failures, but that we do not abandon, at home and away”. Racca also puts his Krumiri in hospitality and gives them as a tribute to the referees.

But back above, we return to talk about biscuits. Made with only five ingredients: “Flour of our wholemeal farm only with ancient grains, butter, organic eggs, beetroot sugar and vanilla of the Madagascar”. Augustus is proud of his product. “Because I only use high quality”. He also created savory ones, tomato and oregano, anchovies, Parmigiano Reggiano, onion. And on the desserts, in addition to the classics, gluten -free and lactose without chocolate has indulged themselves. “In winter I cover Krumiri with the chocolate of domori”. In Casale the last jolcalate of great football had it with the explosion of Junior Messias who grew up here and is now in Genoa. But for them the only thing that matters is the team. Who tell in a museum where an offer is welcome. “It always serves to find material to enrich it.”
