“I would like to thank everyone who has given me a heart in the past period with messages, cards, presents, flowers and more. Because of you it felt like the whole of the Netherlands stood behind me and that was very nice in such a bizarre and difficult time,” she writes. “I don’t think I can ever put into words how much that has meant for me.”
Heesters (29) also thanks her family, friends and team for their support in recent months. She also addresses the employees, nurses and doctors at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, where she has been treated. “Because thanks to them I have a future again. What an incredible heroes they are!”
