Except for the finish line, the two best in winter fought a hard fight. Now do a common thing.

Joint preparation instead of tough competition: The dramatic duel for the overall World Cup apparently welded the biathletes Franziska Preuss and Lou JeanMonnot even more closely together. “Spent two perfect days in great society! Many thanks to Franzi and Simon Schempp for the warm welcome,” wrote the French woman on Instagram. Overall World Cup winner Preuss had apparently invited her permanent controller to her home for the Olympic season during the summer preparation.

There the duo completed joint training sessions in the Chiemgau Arena, in photos the two stand next to each other on the road one and two – as is so often the case last winter. In addition, Preuss posed with JeanMonnot in front of his own wooden house, and a joint pizza evening could not be missing. The French woman from the Jura Mountains also treated herself to a trip on the Chiemgau Coaster, the Summer toboggan run from Ruhpolding.

Prussia and JeanMonnot had a dramatic duel around the crown in the overall World Cup until the last competition last season. Both had gone together on the last round of winter before JeanMonnot fell around 300 meters before the finish in a curve during an overtaking maneuver from Prussia. The 26-year-old had faced her own stick in front of the ski, there had been no touch of the Bavarian.

While Preuss initially blamed himself, JeanMonnot immediately cleared her from any guilt. After the fall of her competitor, the best German biathlete not only won the race but also the large crystal ball, 20 points were ultimately her lead.
