After more than five years, the time has come: Defones announce a new album. Private music will be released on August 22, 2025 via Reprise/Warner Records. The new single “My Mind is a Mountain” can now be heard everywhere.

Cooperation with old acquaintances
At the beginning of July 2025, the band played a large headliner concert in London, where they already indicated that fans will soon be able to look forward to new music. The album Private Music was created in collaboration with Nick Raskulinecz, who produced, among others, with Alice in Chains and the Foo Fighters. The producer was also involved in the Defones albums Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan. The new record was recorded in Malibu and Joshua Tree (California) and in Nashville, Tennessee.
Fans were already waiting longingly
In the past two years, Frontmann Chino Moreno and his bandmates kept saying that they are working on a new album. The last LP was published in 2020 under the title Ohms.
As early as September 2023, they indicated a new studio album and promised publication in the course of 2024. Ultimately, however, this did not come about.
In the spring of 2025, the band reported with another update:
“”[Wir] Have recorded music for an entire album, “says Moreno.” And at the moment it is up to me to finish the vocals … We don’t have it in a hurry. It should be great – that’s the most important thing. But it is coming, and yes – it’s really good. “

The first single release of the plate is now available with “My Mind is a Mountain”.
