Horst Steffen has been the new coach at Werder Bremen since the beginning of July. The successor to Ole Werner naturally makes a lot different. However, this does not only affect the sporting aspect, as has now been unveiled.

Werder Bremen is currently preparing intensively for the new season. There are 39 training sessions until the start, as coach Horst Steffen emphasized around his first PK as the reigning coach at the beginning of the week. One of the goals: the practice of the game with a chain of four. In addition, the internalization of the offensive idea that Steffens team should always bring with you.

But apart from the sporting aspect, there are also some changes to Werder compared to predecessor Ole Werner, who had been released after the past season because he did not want to extend his contract with the green-whites and has now switched to RB Leipzig.

How “Sport Bild” has experienced, there are changed rules of conduct. One of them: when lunch or general playing before playing, the professionals have to stay seated until the last player has eaten. Before that, it was the case that individuals said goodbye to the table well beforehand and that Werner’s team of coaches was tolerated.

Steffen, on the other hand, attaches significantly more value to adequate manners. He already emphasized this when he imagined and recently made it clear at the beginning of the week. He wanted to see closely how the group deals with each other and, if in doubt, intervene in order to tell his ideas from each other. His current impression of the Werder stars is very positive.

Werder Bremen: Steffen has the office adjusted

In order to be able to exchange ideas with his co-trainers better, Steffen had a change in his office on Monday, according to “Sport Bild”. There is now another large table to raise communication with his assistant Raphael Duarte, co- “newcomer” Christian Gross and the established goalkeeper coach Christian Vander to a higher level.

This should also improve the wire to the team. According to information from the sports magazine, this should no longer be fitting under Werner or his co-coach Patrick Kohlmann and Tom Cichon. The duo “was no longer said to be a good relationship with the team,” writes the sheet.
