The 22-year-old right winger has only one year of contract and PSV will have to participate in a transfer to prevent the 18-time Belgian International from leaving the door for free next summer, just as this summer happened with Walter Benitez, Olivier Boscagli and Richard Ledezma. It is positive for PSV that there is plenty of interest in Bakayoko early in the summer. His name has already been associated with several clubs, but in the meantime two clubs have reported to PSV, sources around the player confirm. Both the German Bayer Leverkusen, which previously reached an agreement with PSV on a transfer from Malik Tillman, and the English Bournemouth, has made the interest in Bakayoko known.
PSV gets stuck in the official mill and looks at alternatives to Mendy
In England it is reported that Nottingham Forest also has serious interest in Bakayoko and a possible asking price of approximately 30 to 35 million euros is mentioned for the talented attacker. The Premier League club has made a huge hit with the sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United, which, according to Media, has yielded 64 million euros. With that money, Nottingham Forest would now want to go shopping in Eindhoven, where the club knocked on the two years ago for Ibrahim Sangaré. Forest then counted down 35 million euros, the second highest transfer amount that the club has ever paid.
Johan Bakayoko at PSV
Bakayoko has had three seasons in PSV’s main force and can consult good statistics. In 131 games for the Eindhoven club he scored 33 goals and gave 22 assists. The Belgian was partly trained by PSV himself and already made his debut in the main force under trainer Roger Schmidt. He only experienced his real breakthrough under trainer Ruud van Nistelrooy. Last summer, Bakayoko was able to move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia for a record amount of 55 million euros, but the attacker refused because he did not find that step fit within his career planning. Earlier he also ignored serious offers from Paris Saint-Germain (after half a season in the main force) and the English Brentford (after his first season in the main force).
PSV is busy adding a new winger to the selection in the person of Ruben van Bommel and previously managed to persuade Ivan Perisic for two seasons. Because also long – if the last points and commas and the medical examination at Napoli do not cause any problems – a new winger will be attracted by PSV.
