The Kenyan Beatrice Chebet was the first woman in history to crack the 14 minutes over 5000 m.
The double Olympic champion of Paris won the Diamond League meeting in Eugene/Oregon in 13: 58.06 minutes and clearly undercut the world record from Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay (14: 00.21).
The third -placed Tsegay this time also set up the record in Eugene on September 17, 2023.
The 25 -year -old Chebet had already set up the world record over 10,000 m (28: 54.14) a year ago – also in the Hayward Field by Eugene.
Konstanze Klosterhalfen did not get out of the 21st and thus the last place when she started the season in 15: 14.22. The European champion of 2022 was the only European in the field.
