The former Bundesliga professional Artur Sobiech has ended his active career. The 35-year-old recently ran for Ethnikos Achnas in Cyprus, previously he had gone through stations in his home country of Poland, Turkey and Germany. He played most of the games for Hannover 96, in the jersey of the Lower Saxony he ran a total of 145 times and scored 28 goals (nine assists).

In addition to 98 Bundesliga missions and 13 Europa League games for the red, 22 second division games for Darmstadt 98 are also available for the 13-fold international Poland. It was “time to say thank you”, the 1.84 meter large right foot initiated his farewell post on Instagram.

“After over 17 years of professional football, the moment has come to which every athlete is heading for at some point. After 436 games and 96 goals at the club level as well as 13 missions and two goals in the Polish national team, it is time to complete this incredible chapter,” continued Sobiech. He announced the end of his career “with pride and gratitude. (…) I met great people, played in fantastic clubs and represented my country. I fulfilled a lot of dreams.”

When asked how it continues, Sobiecht replied: “Now it is time for new challenges – away from the square, but with the same passion and the same commitment. I don’t say ‘goodbye’, but ‘see you soon.'”
