After tough negotiations, Jamie Gitten will switch from Borussia Dortmund to the English Premier League club FC Chelsea.
All parties involved agreed on this at the Club World Cup in Fort Lauderdale, such as the football-Bundesliga club announced. The contractual details should still be handled, it said.
The winger had already completed the medical check with the blues last weekend. After that, the 20 -year -old Englishman returned to the Dortmund team quarters in Fort Lauderdale because the agreement was reached.
Kehl: “Talking to Chelsea challenging”
“The conversations with Chelsea were challenging, but in the end we are glad that we can in all likelihood be able to realize and then have planning security,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl in a club announcement.
The BVB had wished for 65 million euros for Gitten. According to the media, the English should pay the Borussia between around 63.8 and 65 million euros.
“His transfer back to the English homeland would be extremely valuable for us,” said Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken and added: “We discovered Jamie very early on, practically committed him to the new talent in our young talent center and also offered him at the very highest level at the professionals.” His career is exemplary for the development of top talents at BVB.
With the implementation of this transfer, the management expects a significant positive effect on the figures for the 2025/2026 financial year.
