Divers searched a large pond on Molenstraat in Wanroij on Wednesday in the investigation into the 45-year-old woman who was found dead at Easter in her house. Her 47-year-old ex-partner was arrested the same day as a suspect. The police let them know that they are looking for an object.
Metal detectors were also used in the search in the pond. The police do not want to say whether a murder weapon is being sought. In connection with the investigation, a spokesperson cannot say whether the search has yielded something.
Ex-partner
The emergency services pulled out en masse on April 20 to the house on Molenstraat, along the N602 provincial road. A trauma helicopter also landed, but all the help came too late for the resident of the house.
Her ex-partner, who also comes from Wanroij, was arrested later in the evening as a suspect in Duiven in the province of Gelderland, some sixty kilometers away.
Quiet journey
The woman’s death made a big impression on the village that has about three thousand inhabitants. In the week after her death, many villagers gathered for a quiet journey. Together they commemorated the woman and put flowers at her house.
