The composer Lalo Schifrin died on June 26 at the age of 93. He became known primarily through his music for the TV series “Mission: Impossible”, whose title melody is still considered one of the most striking film and television history. Now Chrissie Hynde, singer of the rock band The Preters, has commented on the death of the composer and has also practiced sharp criticism of current developments in film music.

Films would be “ruined by poor accompanying music”
In an Instagram post on June 30th, Hynde wrote: “Lebewohl, Lalo Schifrin! He was far my favorite film music. Anyone who has visited one of our shows in recent years will recognize him from our walk-on music.”
She then critically commented on contemporary film music: “I have recently seen so many films and television series that were ruined by poor accompanying music. Schifrin has laid the bar very high.”
“Of course, every idiot can compose on his laptop today”
In her posting, Chrissie Hynde expanded her criticism as follows: “Of course, every idiot can be composed on his laptop today … (or” interior design “because you bought a stack of fashion magazines and then ruined a good hotel with false references … or people with a low vibration frequency can call themselves therapists and then ruin other people (and sabotage the language with terms such as” self -esteem “) … who can stand on their heads then call themselves yogis … “
She received a lot of encouragement in the socials – but also critical counter -comments.
