Nick Woltemade and FC Bayern? What Lothar Matthäus says does not fit the Munich honorary president at all.

The poker around Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade heats the minds – not just between the clubs. Even with former football sizes, opinions bounce hard. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß from FC Bayern sharply criticized the record international Lothar Matthäus for his statements about the transfer poker. Matthew “doesn’t have all the cups in the closet,” the 73-year-old told the “kicker”.

Hoeneß goes even further and expressed a fundamental problem with the opinion of former professionals in public. “These experts have been a thorn in my side for a long time.” In addition to Matthew, he also called Dietmar “Didi” Hamann, Fredi Bobic and Michael Reschke.

Bayern want to sign Woltemade – and the attacker would apparently like to switch from VfB Stuttgart to the German record champion this summer. The transfer poker has already been running and has had the headlines for days. However, both clubs should still be far apart in their ideas.

Matthäus, who has also been working as an expert for various TV channels for years, had recently said the “Bild” newspaper that he finds it right that Bayern is trying to see Woltemade. However, he thinks a transfer fee of 60 million euros is not enough. “If 80 to 100 million had been called, I wouldn’t have surprised me,” said the 64-year-old.

Hoeneß now brought these statements into rage. Matthäus is “no responsibility”, but, like in the Florian Wirtz case – the midfielder chose FC Liverpool and against FC Bayern – “with astronomical figures,” wrote the specialist magazine. Matthäus mainly puts VfB under pressure, which in the end would be public as a loser with a lower transfer, said Hoeneß.

Woltemade itself did not want to comment on his future plans. The 23-year-old came to an end at the U21 European Championship on Saturday, but lost the final against England with the German team (2: 3). Woltemade is under contract with VfB until June 30, 2028. The contract does not contain any exit clause.
