Kauhava’s accident is being investigated.
On Sunday afternoon, an accident occurred in Kauhava’s acceleration times where the competitor lost his life.
The accident happened in a motorcycle class with two competitors facing each other. As usual, after a smooth departure, another competitor derailed on the side of the adjacent track. The motorcycle continued its journey for a moment on the lawn until the driver was apparently flown into the air as a result of a collision.
The bystanders were not in danger, says CEO of FHRA Marketing Oy Anssi Pinola.
Police have launched a death investigation.
– After that, we, together with the Motor Union, are doing a more accurate accident investigation, for which a panel will be set up to find out more about what happened, Pinola says.
Rides were suspended immediately after the accident.
Motorcycle Top Fuel, Pro Stock, Super Twin and Super Street Bike groups competed in the three-day Championship and PM competition.
