The blueberry map released last year will continue this year from the lingonberry map.

The lingonberry map is based on the combination and analysis of several spatial data data. In the analysis, research information on lingonberry habitats is combined with information on the growth conditions of each area. The result is an easy -to -read map that helps the user find the best areas of the lingonberry quickly and easily. The map is available free of charge in the free map browser application.

On the map, the typical habitats of the lingonberry are presented in red squares, and lingonberry is most likely to be found in areas where squares are dense and wide.

– The most important thing for us is to provide users with the benefit of moving around in the wild. The lingonberry map was born specifically about user feedback and wishes after the blueberry map, says CEO of Accelbit Oy, which develops the map browser, Jukka Hietanen.

In the future, Hietanen will also promise mushroom maps.

Feedback feature coming

The forecast model behind the lingonberry map utilizes a number of sources of information, including spatial information provided by the Natural Resources Center and the National Land Survey of Finland.

Because environmental sources of information are not updated in real time and weather conditions and other natural phenomena may vary from region to region, the map does not provide surely information about lingonberry occurrence. However, it serves as a good support and design tool for finding berry sites.

The map is constantly being improved, and it is becoming a function that allows users to provide direct feedback on the berry situation in each area. There is already a feedback feature on the blueberry map and the map has been developed based on feedback.

The map browser is a domestic map application for hiking, berry berry and movement in nature and water.
