RTL 4 will eventually disappear as a channel name now that the Dutch branch of RTL has been sold to the Flemish media giant DPG Media. “Will we be DPG 4 very quickly?” Says Humberto Tan.
The bullet is through the church: the acquisition of RTL Nederland by the large Flemish media group DPG Media has been approved. For that reason, the big RTL boss Sven Sauvé was at the talk show table from Humberto Tan. “A bit bland perhaps: is it that we will be DPG 4 very quickly?” The host wonders.
RTL 4 disappears
Sven looks at Humberto’s logo proposal and says: “Well, the colors are good! No, I suggest that we just keep it at RTL 4. In fact, we have arranged that we can use the license for ten years to keep RTL in the Netherlands as a brand.”
For the time being, RTL 4 will continue to be called that, but in the long term that will change. “And the good news is that Videoland just remains Videoland.”
Can Linda still be allowed?
Humberto wonders if Linda de Mol is still welcome at RTL. “Well, RTL also wanted to merge with Talpa. That was canceled. In the end there was a good cooperation, for example with Linda de Mol. Can things still happen between Talpa and RTL?”
Sven: “Naturally. Like even.”
Humberto: “Does John de Mol welcome this too?”
John spoken
Sven says that John has no trouble at all with the acquisition by DPG. “I happen to spoke to John this week and he can’t wait to develop together with our beautiful new formats. We are already doing things together with Linda, he is already making The Floor and The Jump, both really extremely successful titles.”
“There is a new format from Linda: brilliant brains. We are also going to bring a second series from Gooische Women to them on SBS 6 and with us on Videoland. As far as we are concerned, we will only expand that collaboration.”
