TOwe already discussed in this column, in which we say things as they are, of the absence in Italian of a word to indicate the men who really like women. In English it is said Womaniser. In French Home-a-femmes. Spanish mujeriego. In Italian the word is not there.

It could be said to be sciupafemmine, but it is a truly horrendous word. A few years ago it was said playboyword that the British and Americans have not used for a long time.

The only corresponding word comes from the Sicilian: fimminaro. I find it effective, even if in the rest of Italy it says nothing. I wonder why it does not exist in the Italian vocabulary such a word, and what any heterosexual is distinguished from a man to whom women like them very much.

Certainly a fimminaro – let’s call it that – cannot be shy, category to which I belong. But one thing has always struck me: Women recognize the fimminaro with the naked eyewithout even needing to reflect. I have always had the feeling that women understand at first glance or first smelled what kind of man they have in front of them, and if they have a man particularly interested specifically to them and generally to women.

The secret of the fimminaro

Usually the Fimminari are very successful not so much because they are rich, beautiful, powerful (things that usually help), but precisely because They are interested, they are listening, they make women feel important, they laugh at their jokessuggest that you are ready for anything for them. Then maybe the woman in question would like them for life, and must be satisfied with one night.

The mystery of the looks, of the encounters, of love; the art of taking himself and leaving; All this belongs to a few. Fimminaro has the secret. Who knows if they still exist in the era of the politically correct And virtual life, in which you fall in love and leave you more on the net than in reality.
