Metal band Amorphis and the handicrafts, The Helsinki Distilling Company, are working together to launch the band’s title whiskey. Amorphis Whiskey will be released in July. Pre-presentation takes place at the Tuska Festival.
Amorphis Whiskey is made from domestic rye and barley molding and mixed with Helsinki Bourbon, Spanish sherry and Scottish smoke barrels ripened in Helsinki. The end result is a multi -layered and deep six -year -old whiskey, where the sweetness of Sherry, the spiciness of rye and the light smoke blend into a soft and long aftertaste. In the aromas you can also sense dried fruits, dark chocolate shades and gentle toast.
The whiskey has been produced in a limited and numbered batch of 2000 bottles.
– Nowadays, it is no longer a surprise that the band publishes its own alcoholic beverages. But when you have a genuine connection with your partner, we are immediately interested. The Helsinki Distilling Company is a magnificent hometown brand with a really impressive drinking range. We went to the distillery with the whole band early in the year and got the opportunity to choose a magnificent whiskey that created this stylish Amorphis Whiskey, says in a news release, the founder of Amorphis, the guitarist Esa Holopainenwho was involved in the design of the taste profile.
The whiskey is designed and confused by The Helsinki Distilling Company Master Blender Kilpinen. The distillery is especially known for combining local raw materials-barley, rye and water-with the expertise of whiskey manufacturing.
– Helsinki is more than a location for us – it is an identity. In this collaboration, two uncompromising Helsinki ways to do things in music and whiskey. It is great to be able to do and publish the own product of Finland’s toughest metal band, Kilpinen rejoices.
“No consumer goods”
According to the band, this is not a fan product, but the band’s brand extension and artistic extension.
– The project is also based on our common view that alcohol should not be consumer. Less is more. Here, too, we wanted to do something that really deserves to be opened. Every bottle is a moment, not a run. It’s a message we want to take this whiskey forward, says Amorphis composer-contact player Santeri Kallio.
Amorphis is one of the cornerstones of Finnish metal music and is highly respected internationally. The band was founded in 1990 and released several success albums, performed at the largest metal festival and toured around the world.
The Helsinki Distilling Company has been operating since 2013. It is the first distillery in Helsinki for a hundred years. The distillery focuses on the development of high quality handicraft products and has also been awarded internationally.
Amorphis Whiskey’s bottle size is 50 ml and the price is about 90 euros.
