A striking object is a mammoth kies that was recently dug up in the Zwin itself. “That find dates from just a month ago,” says Buckens. “Our Zwingids also contributed to the collection, which makes it extra special.”

The exhibition is not only historically interesting, but also socially relevant, Ina de Wasch, director of the Zwin Natuur Park, emphasizes. “Doggerland shows how a landscape can disappear due to climate change. That link with rising sea level makes the theme today particularly topical.”
