There are moments that could hardly be more exciting on the inside, for example: to appear at the Glastonbury Festival and publish a new album. The New Zealand singer Lorde now made both in one fell swoop. On June 27, the release day of her new album “Virgin”, she surprised the audience with an unannounced appearance at the famous festival in Great Britain.
Lorde: An entire album live to the release
At 11:30 a.m., Lorde entered the Woodsies Area stage in white. The “Hammer” song started, which is not only single, but also opened the album. Afterwards she played the entire 34-minute album in full length. Each song experienced its live premiere just a few hours after the release.
That was the entire setlist:
- hammer
- What what that
- Shapeshifter
- Man of the Year
- Favourite Daughter
- Current Affairs
- Clearblue
- GRWM
- Broken Glass
- If she Could see me now
- David
- Ribs
- Green Light
According to the music magazine “NME”, the 28-year-old explained during her appearance: “I decided to play the entire album from front to back. This album cost me a lot-I didn’t know if I would still do one. But now I’m back and completely free.” Later she added: “It will be a damn horny Glastonbury.” In addition to the new songs, she also performed fan favorites such as “Ribs” and “Green Light”.
A festival full of highlights
Lorde had triggered speculation about her appearance in advance with a photo of the Woodsies stage. “Virgin” is her fourth studio album. The Glastonbury Festival, which takes place annually in the English Somerset, is one of the most famous music festivals in the world. In 2025, Olivia Rodrigo, the 1975, Neil Young, Charli XCX, Raye and the Prodigy are on the program.
