In the disagreement with Germany’s best tennis player, the 57-year-old explains his criticism.
Tennis icon Boris Becker has tuned inconceivable tones with Alexander Zverev after his criticism and verbal twist. “I’m on his side. I want him to win,” said the 57-year-old when a live recording of a podcast episode with the former tennis player Andrea Petković on the edge of the women’s tournament in Bad Homburg. “They are just improvement options or hints.”
The criticism of Zverev is whining at a high level, Becker said. As number three in the world rankings, he does “almost everything right,” said the three -time Wimbledon winner. “I am convinced that he can become number one in the world. I am convinced that he can win a Grand Slam,” said Becker: “It is by far the best German. That’s why I do this. I see the potential. I see the chance.”
Zverev has long emphasized that world ranking place one and a Grand Slam title are his goals. A new voice from the outside could perhaps teach him something new, but Becker explained again. “It is up to him to develop further,” he said in view of the competition.
Becker and Zverev have known each other for a long time. “We are always in good dialogue,” said Becker. “I think you don’t always have to think in a good partnership.”
The 28-year-old Zverev had apparently shaken his quarter-final in Paris. In preparation for Wimbledon, he reached the final in Stuttgart, the semi -finals in Halle. “Basically, Sascha is in a dazzling form,” said Becker. He would not have thought that he would come back so strongly. “That is more than impressive.” At the lawn classic in Wimbledon on Monday, however, Zverev has never got beyond the round of 16.
