At this year’s Tour de France (July 5th to 27th), the cycling world is banned in the duel Tadej Pogacar against Jonas Vingegaard. In the paddock, too, it is eagerly speculated in advance which of the two superstars will take the race. The Danish cyclist Alexander Kamp from the Intermarché-Wanty team has a clear favorite.
Cycling professional Alexander Kamp does not believe that his Danish compatriot Jonas Vingegaard can defeat last year’s winner Tadej Pogacar at the Tour de France. “Jonas is good, but he will not be able to increase by five or ten percent by the tour star,” said the 31-year-old at “TV2”, “and we cannot expect pogacar to be worse.”
At this year’s Critérium du Dauphiné, Vingegaard and Pogacar had given a first sample. The eight -day tour of France has always been an important preparatory race on the big loop. The Slovenian won in front of the second -placed Vingegaard, the distance was a whopping 59 seconds in the overall ranking.
Third place went to Florian Lipowitz from the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team, who won the young talent.
“There is no one who can beat Pogacar”
After the impressions from Dauphiné and with a view of the Tour de France, Alexander Kamp is committed: “There is no one who can beat Pogacar with the level he had this and last year. He is outstanding.”
Kamps compatriot Jonas Gregaard from the Lotto Dstny team sees it similarly. Vingegaard has to use the few remaining weeks to put a shovel in training. “Otherwise I think it will be Tadej again,” says the 28-year-old at “TV2”.
The Swiss Stefan Küng also sees no reason not to see Tadej Pogacar as an absolute tour favorite. The 26-year-old was “so difficult to beat” last year, “that it will be difficult for Jonas”. The first stage of this year’s Tour de France will take place on July 5 in Lille.
