Morrissey is currently on European and UK tour. Actually, the former front man of The Smiths should have occurred on Monday (June 23) in Sweden’s capital Stockholm. But on Sunday evening (June 22nd) it was surprisingly announced that the sold -out concert was canceled. What about the Berlin gig?

Just not feasible

In a statement on Instagram, Morrissey announced that the show could not take place for several reasons. “The pain of not coming to Stockholm this week is unbearable for the band and crew,” he writes. It was “a big dream” to play in Sweden, but without the help of record labels, this was hardly fully implemented.

“There is no support from Imaginary Record Labels to bring us to such places,” he explains. “No label publishes our music, no radio plays our songs … and yet we sell a lot of tickets. What does that tell us about the state of art in 2025?”

In addition to the financial hurdles, the singer also indicates physical exhaustion as a reason. The band had traveled through six countries in a short time and “incredibly travel mate”. “We can hardly see,” continued Morrissey.

Disappointed fans

Many fans react irritated to the cancellation. In the comment column on Instagram, the argument is particularly questioned: “Basically, after a few weeks you are tired on tour? Stockholm is almost completely sold out – why can’t you afford the trip?” Writes a user.

Berlin-Info

For Berlin, however, Morrissey gives the all -clear. The appearance on Friday (June 27) is to take place. In his statement it says: “The car continues to roll to Berlin. We will all come together with God’s grace. I love you all with what is left of my damn heart.”
