After a long injury break, Antonio Rüdiger gave his comeback for Real against Pachuca. Shortly afterwards he made a serious reproach.

Antonio Rüdiger played for Real Madrid for the first time after his injury break. At the club World Cup against CF Pachuca (3-1), the German international was substituted after 78 minutes. But shortly afterwards there was a serious incident. The 32-year-old raised the accusation of being racially insulted.

What happened? Rüdiger came together with Pachucas Gustavo Cabral shortly before the end, then the central defender spoke to referee Ramon Abatti. The latter then crossed his arms in front of his upper body – a sign of the World Association FIFA in a multi -stage protocol, which signals that the referee has noticed a racist incident and has been reported to him. The game in Charlotte was interrupted for a short time, but then managed.

After the 3-1 win, Real coach Xabi Alonso made clear: “We stand behind Toni and will see what happens. The FIFA protocol is activated and we support him,” said Bayer Leverkusen’s former coach. He emphasized that the incident was “unacceptable” and you believe the player.

Cabral meanwhile rejected the allegations against himself. There was “nothing racist”, said 39-year-old Argentinier, according to media reports after the game. He described Rüdiger as “damn coward” – “Cagón de Mierda”, as one said in Argentina.

For Rüdiger it was the first game after a knee operation in April. Real Madrid has four points on the account after two group games. In the last duel, the club meets Red Bull Salzburg. So far, the Austrians have also achieved four points.
