Outdoor swimming pools are gradually disappearing from the streets, but Kortrijk is sticking to tradition. “For us this is nostalgia,” says a loyal visitor. “We have been coming here for more than 10 years. Fantastic that it is still possible.”
Jonas Malfait of Lago Kortrijk agrees: “It’s only for a short time, but the outdoor swimming pool really lives here. For people without a garden or shade, this is a place to catch your breath and experience a holiday close to home.”
For the youngest visitors there is even a bonus: a virtual reality glasses immerse them in a fantasy world full of sunken boats, fish and mysterious beings.
The outdoor swimming pool will remain open until September 14.
