Hamburger SV has strengthened with goalkeeper talent Fernando Dickes from RB Leipzig. The 17-year-old goalkeeper comes from the youth of the Saxons and, according to the Bundesliga promoted, should train with the professionals and increase the competition, but at the same time collect game practice in the youngsters of the HSV. Nothing became known at the length of the contract.
Director Sport Claus Costa said: “Fernando brings extremely interesting systems with his modern and balanced goalkeeper game and his very good physical prerequisites. (…) Our goalkeeper scouting has followed its development in recent years. Sports board member Stefan Kuntz added: “We see great potential in Fernando that we now want to develop together.”
Dickes switched to the Elbe as a German U18 national goalkeeper and was used four times in the UEFA Youth League in the past season. “I look forward to the opportunity to develop at the HSV and I can hardly wait for it to start,” said Hamburg newcomer, who had moved from Halle to Leipzig in 2020. HSV is likely to go into the season with veteran Daniel Heuer Heuer Fernandes (32) as a clear number 1, his deputy Matheo Raab (26) should be able to imagine a farewell in view of his perspective. With Hannes Hermann (20), another young keeper is under contract, while fan favorite Tom Mickel (36) ends his career.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth hired Leipzig-Torwart Schlieck
With Timo Schlieck, RB Leipzig, in the meantime, releases another goalkeeper. The 19-year-old switches to the 2nd league on a loan base with a purchase option to the SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The cloverleaf has occupied the last vacant space between the posts. “Timo is a highly assessed keeper who, despite his young age, has a lot and which we have already perceived him as a very ripe. We were able to guess a young goalkeeper to the cloverleaf, which we trusted the second league,” said Fürth’s sports director Stephan Fürstner.
Coach Thomas Kleine said: “Timo brings a modern goalkeeper game, is very good with the ball on the foot. He is reaction strong, has a good stature and, despite his young age, also took the first steps in men’s football.” The German U19 goalkeeper Schlieck spent a loan this season at RSCA Futures-in the reserve of the Belgian club RSC Anderlecht-and came up to 21 missions in the Challenger Pro League. “For me as a young goalkeeper, it is the goal of playing and gaining experience. Fürth has relied on young goalkeepers in recent years, which is not a matter of course. I am looking forward to the new season, the team and the start of training next week,” emphasized Schlieck.
