According to critics, Youp van ‘t Hek throws his entire image away in a few days: in two days he complained about the BNNVARA wine gift in three (!) Programs. “He misses attention.”
It was already in his biography a year ago: Youp van ‘t Hek was angry about the farewell gift that he received from Bnnvara, namely a bottle of wine. This week he repeated that in three (!) Programs, namely at Opium, on Radio 538 and at Humberto Tan. Jan Uriot calls him an ‘old nag. “A huge bastard,” says Ronald Molendijk.
“Relativate it!”
According to Angela de Jong, Youp has now become the man he has always mocked, and MediaCiticus Victor Vlam can agree with that. Although he understands the annoyance of the comedian, you think you should tell something like that once. “He blows it up too much by telling it time and time again.”
He says in the podcast The Communicado’s: “Yes, it is silly from BNNVARA. Yes, they really should have given you a better farewell. But let’s continue to see things in proportion. If you have had a very successful career and you are acclaimed by really a lot of people, then you have to be able to put this into perspective.”
Painful television
Youp stays too much in it, says Victor. “It is something that is not such a very big thing. It is annoying, but you would also think: hey, you have to be able to get over it. And the moment at Humberto … I thought it was really uncomfortable, because Youp was talking about a deceased friend there.”
“Then Humberto says something along the lines of:” Well, that farewell gift from BNNVARA will put in perspective. ” He actually says: that deceased friend is really in life and not a bad farewell gift.
Losing sympathy
Youp should have taken that moment by stopping it, but he didn’t. “And then I also thought to myself: we were just talking about a friend who died, gosh, you could also have a little more perspective. That is one of the very first reasons why he immediately lost sympathy.”
Co-host Lars Duursma on that: “The tragedy is of course that Youp has also become the man he himself took the size for decades. If the columnist Youp had seen this on television, he would have really cut this man Youp to the ankles.”
To the ankles
Is completely correct, says Victor. “To the ankles. Yes, absolutely. He would certainly have done that. The question is: Why is Youp blows it up like this? Why don’t you tell this story once and do you get your mouth over it? My theory about that is that he thought the attention that was accompanied by telling this story was a bit too pleasant.”
“Of course he stopped performing and he enjoyed getting the sympathy of the nation and yes, that created pride and then it went completely loose, but then that sympathy evaporated, because then it became a bit pathetic. Then it was an old man who is suddenly beg for sympathy. Yes, that’s just very sad …”
