FC Bayern Munich is early in the round of 16 of the club World Cup. In the short success of the Boca Juniors, Michael Olise scored the decisive goal for 2-1 (1-0) victory.

Harry Kane made the Bavaria in the lead (18th minute), Olise scored the acclaimed winning goal (84th). Miguel Merenstiel had in the meantime compensated for the Argentine (66th). In the final group game on Tuesday (9 p.m.), the German record champion against Benfica Lisbon is still about the group victory.

“We saw how difficult it is for European teams at this club World Cup against South American clubs,” said Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany after the game at DAZN. “I am very satisfied: we had our emotions under control, it was important that we remained calm after the equalization.”

Boca with aggressiveness and loud fans

As with the 2-2 in the opening game against Benfica Lisbon, Boca presented itself passionately from the start and with a lot of hardness in the duels. But under the continuous sound of the constant Argentine fans, the Bavarians were not deterred, rather the game control itself tore in the early minutes.

So it was the Munich team who were allowed to cheer for the first time: Olise’s corner kick turned directly into the goal. Serge Gnabry had pushed Boca goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin somewhat in the five-meter space, after the VAR check, the goal was revoked-a little happy for the Argentine, because Gnabry’s commitment could also have been waved through.

Guided tour for Bayern: Kane Clever

Shortly afterwards, however, the time had come: the Munich players played forward over the right side, after a deflected flank ball, Kane came to the ball in the center and peaked the ball cleverly on the net for deserved leadership. And the Bavarians stayed tuned if they had to increase through the extremely playful Kingsley Coman – the Frenchman missed Gnabry’s cross pass (20th).

There was little to see from Boca to hard tackling and some discussions with the referee. Only Kevin Zenon checked Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer twice (31st and 33rd), but Bayern also posted other opportunities-the best of which Olise missed when he failed in one-on-one with Marchesin (32nd).

Bavaria superior – but Boca hits

The second half did not offer a changed picture: the Munich residents stayed on the accelerator pedal and did not let the 35-time Argentine master develop at all. Olise (53.) and Kane (55th) had it 2-0 on the foot, but because the Kompany team dealt a little too negligently with their chances, it remained exciting.

And as it happens so often in football: if you don’t use your chances at the front, the bell rings in the back. The guests played a counterattack out of nowhere: Merenstiel only ran away from Jonathan Tah, then let Josip Stanisic, indisposed in this scene, easily get out and stayed in front of a new cool. Suddenly there was a tie, the center forward from Uruguay was allowed to celebrate his second tournament goal.

Quite bitter: Bavaria’s Musiala injured replaced

Boca was now on top, suddenly dared to go on the offensive and even sniffed the lead goal. Hardly anything came from the Munich team in this phase – and had to take the next deep blow: Jamal Musiala, in the meantime, had to be substituted, had to be struck and visibly threatened. After his muscle bundle tear in the left thigh, the 22-year-old had only come back to the team at the beginning of June.

In the final phase, it was again the strong Olise that helped Bavaria to win and thus to the round of 16. After Kane’s good shelf, the Frenchman pulled away from approx. 15 meters and hit flat and placed in the lower left corner.
