Anyone who wants to go to the Kop van de Vaart on Wednesday to the concert of the Royal Military Chapel Johan Willem Friso, you will be advised to arrive well in time. The access to the area before the floating stage is closed when it is full.
So it is not that you are all just around the stage, as usual during the TT Festival. So full is also full. “To properly regulate the influx, we work on Wednesday evening with two inputs towards the stage,” says the organization. When the square is full, access can be closed. People are also checked in the two entrances.
One entrance is on the Collardslaan, the other between the new Kolk and Villa Tapas. The site at the Kop van de Vaart is open from 7.30 p.m. The concert starts at 9.30 p.m. and lasts until around 00.00.
Spread throughout the evening there are guest appearances by Emma Heesters, Marco Schuitmaker and Hendrik Jan Bökkers. They all play two or three songs with the chapel. Old images are also shown during the concert. Afterwards DJ Barry Paf will turn until midnight.
Festival director Jan Gerbrand Krol first assumed 15,000 people at the jubilee concert, which is held in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the TT Festival. But due to the access measures that the municipality of Assen has demanded, the area is smaller and 10,000 visitors is the maximum. The concert is free to visit. If the square is full, you can watch live on a large screen from the market.
