Daughter and son -in -law tell in Another long video What their dream is and why they believe they can end up in Russia. They also tell why father and mother Walters came along. “We told them about our plans. In the end we gathered,” says the couple, while some pictures of the four appear.

“I think my mother is missing her bike,” says the daughter. In Hilversum you often came across the alderman on the bike, but apparently cycling does not happen much in Russia.

The Russian dream

The young couple married last May. Their future lies in small organic farmers. That way of life fits well with the two. That is not an option for them in the Netherlands, because the land is simply too expensive here. For one hectare you quickly pay 80,000 euros and they cannot afford that, the son -in -law says in the video.

In addition, Dutch farmers, but also those in other countries of the European Union (EU), spend a lot of time on rules, administration and politics. For this reason, the two went outside of Europe. For example, they have focused their sights on Russia, because they can pay their way of farmers and other rules apply.

“I saved money in the Netherlands to take this step. We get a lot of support from my parents to realize our dream,” said the daughter.

Culture shock ‘Not big’

The young couple apparently really like it very much and the differences between Russia and the Netherlands are not great, they believe. “I expected a larger culture shock. That is also because Russia is often negative in the news, but your culture is similar to that in the Netherlands,” is their sequel.

If it is up to Walters’ daughter, they will never leave Russia again. The final goal is to stay in Russia, to found a family and to get a Russian passport.

NH has contacted former alderman Walters over the telephone and mail for a response, but our messages have not (yet) been responded to.
