It has been three years since Loyle Carner with his third album Hugo should tap any heart that has not yet been taken up. Songs like “HATE” made the reality of racism experiences also experienced for those that are spared from it. How do you continue afterwards? You get thirty, in his case, maybe even grown up. And in the badly hopeless times, writes gently and delicately about what is generally missing in the world today: hope. And love, the unconditional way. And the search for calm and something like healing.
What did he get this positive vibes? It is about self -awareness, family, warmth – and that’s always melancholic. Sure, we are still at Loyle Carner, one of the broken british rappers, which is already made under the influence of austerity and rainy weather. Hopefully! Sounds like a warm, comforting blanket and still remains very easy.
So the production process was, Carner says in interviews: no stress, no pressure, just see what comes out. The result is songs such as the sunny “In My Mind”, which “All I Need” or “Lyin” reminiscent of the alternative of the nineties and nineties, in which the rapper and actor also sings, as he would sing a lullaby to his children. One of these children can also be heard in the video for “About Time” – together with the title song “Hopefully” a highlight on an album full of highlights.
