Homme Plissé Issey Miyake is guesting at the Italian men’s fashion fair Pitti Uomo and is inspired by the country and people.
The Menswear line of the Japanese designer of the same name takes the opportunity to take a new path-after its time at the Paris Fashion Week-a spokesman at the press conference on Wednesday before the show. “Open Studio” is the name of the new chapter of the line known for your pleated pieces. It was first presented in Florence with an exhibition and catwalk show.
Land and people
For this, the design team left the studio in Tokyo and went on a trip to Italy to capture the attitude to life there. The team studied the colors of various objects, surfaces – from the glass of red wine to an anchor to the house wall – in the Italian cities. Based on this, the designers created: inside an extensive color palette for the SS26 collection.

The local communities and the trip itself also became part of the inspiration. Homme Plissé Issey Miyake showed an asymmetrical “painter: inside” vest, which with its many compartments and bags was perfect for the brush and colors of the team on the journey. In addition, various voluminous jackets were part of the collection, which could be transformed into the transport bag for the piece by a few simple steps.

“Open Studio” should remain part of Homme Plissé Issey Miyake’s concept in the coming season and will be an opportunity for the design team to explore new places and be inspired.
