The jury also praises the ice cream parlor in particular because of the quality, hospitality and appearance. That reports NH Gooi.
Although it is the third time that the hope receives this prize, owner Caroline Kooij still thinks it is ‘super fantastic’. “Very, very, very nice. But also very relieved, because you really don’t know. There have been five nominated and we were one of them. You only really know when the envelope opens.”
A small party was already celebrated yesterday. “We just have to turn, of course. But we did have a drink in the afternoon and in the evening we had a small emergency drink.”
She says to NH Gooi that she also encourages other ice cream shops to participate in the competition. “In addition to being a lot of fun, you also learn a lot from it.”
Real family business
The Blaricum ice cream parlor has been around since 1898. It is a real family business: the Grootopa van Kooij, Lammert Kooij, opened it then. At the time it was still a steam dairy factory. Ice has also been scooped since 1951.
